Ministry: Part 2 on The Holy Spirit
Today we’ll continue our teaching on the Holy Spirit by starting with a short summary of last week’s teaching:
Ruach Hakodesh the Holy Spirit in:
Who was hovering (Rah Gaaf) over the waters compared to a ‘mighty’ wind where
Then we looked at two words:
Ruach from the Hebrew and Pneuma from Greek
- Col 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God
- life-giving breath or Spirit,
- combines the two to moving air
- that is moving either inside or outside man.
The breath is always God’s gift
the Source of Life.
The last Adam – Jesus is a life-giving spirit.
Today’s teaching will focus on what Jesus broadly taught on the Holy Spirit and we’ll begin with a few introductory points:
- Jesus recognized the Holy Spirit to be the inspiration of the old testament writers the Spirit’s work with respect to the Messiah.:
Mark 12:36, Luke 20:42, Matthew 13:14
Jesus recognized the spirit as God’s gift
Matthew 7:7-11 Ask
Luke 11: 9-13 This is how you pray
how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
- He promised that the Spirit will be with them to help them in ministry, and anoint them even in the midst of persecution:
Matthew 10:16 – 2020 for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
Mark 13:11 Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
Luke put it slightly differently in 12: 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”
- Jesus commanded baptism to be in the Name:
Of Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Matthew 28:19
- They were commanded to wait
Luke 24:49 – I am going to send you what my Father has promised; Acts 1:8
Matthew 25: The Lord as the giver of good gifts
Luke 11:13
When we ask; he will not give us something bad, nor less than the best but will grant us the Holy Spirit himself.
Matthew 7:11 How much more will your father in heaven grant you good gifts to those who ask
James 1:17 Shifting shadows like the moon who has phases of shadow he is always the same source of bright and pure light.
Mathew 6:25-33; Romans 8:32 graciously give us all things?
The father firstly sent the Son as the living word
Then to do His work of Salvation
Then the Father sent the Holy Spirit to bring gifts to us and to continue His work in and through us!
a response to prayer: the 120 were praying
Peter prayed for others to receive Acts 8:15
Gal 3: 14 so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit, eagerly desire and that they come from a prepared heart
Matthew 5; Cor 12;31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.
14;1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.
Asks How much is this not true of the Holy Spirit himself? If we should eagerly desire gifts.
Ps 42:1; Phil 3:10
John 1:33 ; Acts 4: 8
In conclusion:
Finally when Jesus sent his disciples or when he prepared them for what is to come he painted a picture that they should
- expect opposition,
- not expect to be welcomed
- not to be pessimistic, but realistic
- not to have a shallow optimism, but reliance on the promises of god
- matthew 16;18 I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
- To wear the armour of god, eph 6;11-18
salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions
- we should expect these to increase over time 2 Tim 3;1
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
Breath of God
The third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit, coequal, coeternal with the Father and the Son.
Gen 1: 1-2 (Raghaf)
Deuteronomy 32:11 Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that hovers over its young, so the Lord spread out his wings and took him, he lifted him up on his pinions.
The creation apologetic is then the first evidence of the Spirit of God being associated with the creation activity.
John 1:3 Through him all things were made,
1 Tim 2:5 From the beginning He was the mediator
Col 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God
Psalms 104 When you take away their life’s breath, Spirit
they die and return to dust.
Spirit, wind, breath and mind
Exodus 14:21 strong east wind
Num 11: 31 a wind went out from the Lord
Gen 3:8 – The wind of the day
Gen 2:7 breath of life or lives
Job 19 “My breath is offensive
combines the two to moving air
it is always God’s gift
The sense here is that The Spirit is a life giving energy that God alone possesses permanently by His own nature.

Col 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn (Prototakos) over all creation.
Ephesians 3:16 –

Thus the emphasis is not on the kind of life but on the Source of Life.
So also it is written, “The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING SOUL.” The last Adam is a life-giving spirit.

Message by Craig: In his Image
Genesis 1: 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness
As one who is perfect, God is the only being in the universe who can be completely delighted with himself without being arrogant or sinful in any way. The best way for God to delight in his own perfection is to behold his own image.
This oneness will become reflected in creation through the covenant of Marriage.
Humankind was created male and female. Only as humans relate as a community made up of male and female is the image of God reflected. Male and Female He Created Them’:

Dwelling places: a picture of the Kingdom
We’ll take a peak at the beginning, the Davidic Monarchy and Solomon’s court
(Isa 11.9)
Lost in translation: an example from Hebrew Alphabet
Aleph beit–בראשית and Tav:
There is always a desire to build a house for His presence Yet there is no place created by us that can house Hims.
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
- Under the reign of Solomon, we witness a type of precedent to Christ’s kingdom expression on the earth, reaching its fullest extent to date.
Deuteronomy 17 , 2 Samuel 7
the prophet Nathan & David
- The play on the word house and “Name.”
the promise of God and David’s response
the covenant formula; “Israel has become your people and you have become their God” (verse 24), which finds its final expression in the eternal city of God (Rev.21.3).
God’s Presence
There were two kinds of reign for a king – reigning in battle and reigning in peace.
Solomon’s very name is derived from the Hebrew word for peace, shalom, more than the absence of war.
- Kingdom celebration and multiplication:
- Kingdom peace:
- Kingdom life:
- Kingdom mission:
The Davidic monarchy ushered in a period of great worship. Solomon built a magnificent temple.
God is king of all the earth(Ps.47.7),
How Do We Experience God’s Reign?
The Lord is King, His kingdom is here and is coming in Glory. What we experience now in part, will be completely established in His return. So we pray, Let your Kingdom Come Oh Lord.

Act 2 Religion versus Faith
Chapter 7: Cleanliness is next to Godliness
Now the Pharisees and some of the experts in the law who came from Jerusalem gathered around him. 2 And they saw that some of Jesus’ disciples ate their bread with unclean hands, that is, unwashed.
The covenant root of their thinking was that people outside of their reality were unclean. This is perfectly portrayed by Peter’s response to the revelation of the sheet let down from heaven.
The tradition of the elders
5 The Pharisees and the experts in the law asked him, “Why do your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with unwashed hands?” 6 He said to them, “Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written:
8 Having no regard for the command of God, you hold fast to human tradition.” 9 He also said to them, “You neatly reject the commandment of God in order to set up your tradition.
Moses Ex 21:17 and Lev 20:9
10 For Moses said,
Corban was a 2nd temple practice that endorsed the practice of saying no to your parents needs in order bring your offering to God, (via the Temple 0f course) 13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition
Listen to me
, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand. 15 There is nothing outside of a person that can defile him by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles him.”
Can you stomach this?
19 For it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and then goes out into the sewer.”
20 He said, “What comes out of a person defiles him.
The enemy within
23 All these evils come from within and defile a person.”
Come Home, The Father is there, waiting for your return.
From Death To Life
- The power of the Letter
2 Cor 3:3 revealing that you are a letter of Christ,
not based on the letter but on the Spirit,
Jer 31:34;
“I will put my law within them and write it on their hearts and minds. I will be their God and they will be my people.
for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
7 But if the ministry that produced death—carved in letters on stone tablets—
8 how much more glorious will the ministry of the Spirit be?
- The Glory of Progressive Revelation
- What was veiled
- The ministry of the Spirit
Mar 15:38 And Luk 23:45 because the sun’s light failed. The temple curtain was torn in two.
Mat 27:51 The earth shook and the rocks were split apart.
- And what more shall I say?
These wonderful acts of the Spirit, demonstrated the glory of the Lord and his willingness to use men and women to unveil his Power to mankind.
- But it is our greatest enemy He came to conquer once and for all.
- It is the Lord who commends his servants.
39 And these all were commended for their faith, yet they did not receive what was promised.
run with endurance the race set out for us, 2 keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith so that you may not grow weary in your souls and give up.
In conclusion:
2 Cor 2:15 For we are a sweet aroma of Christ
A Journey of Grace
WE start with a reflection of 5G church.
Go into a time of worhip
7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he captured captives; he gave gifts to men.” 9 Now what is the meaning of “he ascended,” except that he also descended to the lower regions, namely, the earth? 10 He, the very one who descended, is also the one who ascended above all the heavens, in order to fill all things.
11 And he himself gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,
12 to equip (katartismos) the saints for the work of ministry, that is, to build up the body of Christ,
katartismo had three uses:
- mending nets
- setting broken bones
- outfitting a ship
13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God —a mature person, attaining to the measure of Christ’s full stature.
14 So we are no longer to be children, tossed back and forth by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching by the trickery of people who craftily carry out their deceitful schemes.
15 But practicing the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Christ, who is the head.
End with some praise and thanksgiving.
16 From him the whole body grows, fitted and held together through every supporting ligament. As each one does its part, the body builds itself up in love.
Why me Lord
WE start the service with some worship
Led by Vaughan : Holy Spirit End with Where you belong
Our key message come fromActs 10 The leading of God through: Other peoples’needs
The testimony of revival and the power of miracles
The word of Angels
The leading of the Holy Spirit.
Through visions and revelations
And the voice of God.
Then finally through our obedience to go.
The Lord will continue the process of transformation because he is our Father and works with us and through us.
WE find our place and purpose in our relationship with Him.
Legacy of Love
If recent world events have taught us on the Historical scales of justice. They are hinge moments,
Mankind has always thought that we can control outcomes and shape our desired or preferred future.
Our Father is not threatened by those who oppose us, for He loves them too. His is willing to scatter us for the sake of the Kingdom for we are His seed after all and His cry gets louder with every generation,
Whom shall I send? What do you see?
Is greatness a mere measurement of the sum total of our success?
So let’s take a look at these three things:
1. Leaving a mark: This is shaped by our actions rather than our words.
2. Shaping a Legacy: This is how history will judge your life’s effort.
3. An Inheritance: What you leave behind for future generations
Firstly, Leaving a mark: This is shaped by our actions rather than our words.
Matthew 21:28-32 that story concludes with these words:
For John (the babtiser) came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe. Although you saw this, you did not later change your minds and believe him.
Gen 2: 8-11
.
Gen 4:3 At the designated time Cain brought some of the fruit of the ground for an offering to the Lord. 4 But Abel brought some of the firstborn of his flock—even the fattest of them.
The Hebrew term מִנְחָה (minkhah, “offering”)
Verse : 6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why is your expression downcast? 7 Is it not true that if you do what is right, you will be fine? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at the door. It desires to dominate you, but you must subdue it.”
Romans 3:20
The Mark he leaves on us is the Mark we make in the World.
Secondly Shaping a Legacy: This is how history will judge your life’s effort
Proverbs teaches us: That we should teach a child in the way they should go, but to remember that even if they part from it, it will not part from them, my paraphrase.
Legacy is not how you start, it’s how you finish and how you’ll be remembered.
Finally: Our Inheritance: What you leave behind for future generations by being willing to pay the price today!
The very famous line from a Tennyson poem titled “In Memoriam A.H.H
penned by a Jewish Spaniard in the 11th century of the common era :
Tis a Fearful Thing by Yehuda Halevi
Death then, is a point of convergence of what is human with what is holy.
This reveals the true nature of love. When we love, we risk our hearts greatest fear, to lose what we’ve loved. Love merges what is human with what is Holy.
My heart knows love, thus my heart knows pain!
Like an image of the horizon, constantly before us appearing to be within our grasp we find that we cannot reach it for it is always just beyond.
It is a fearful thing to love and a holy thing to be loved by Him.
