ALEXANDER VENTER
Alexander’s main 'claim to fame’ is that he’s married to Gill and that they have two adult children. Alexander was ordained to the ministry in 1975 and has planted and pastored churches in Zimbabwe, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Soweto. After serving as a pastor in the Vineyard Church for many years Alexander recently resigned from his position as pastor of Following Jesus Vineyard church in Johannesburg in order to pursue an itinerant ministry. Alexander travels broadly doing leadership training and conferences, including seminars and retreats for men. Alexander has authored four companion books, Doing Church, Doing Reconciliation, Doing Healing, and Doing Spirituality. He has also authored Praying the Psalms Volume One: Learning to Pray.

In recent decades there has been an unprecedented crisis in masculinity. Defining masculinity – what it means to be a "real man" – has become seriously problematic. It has shifted over time from the macho male to the soft male, to the so-called metro male, and the androgynous male. Confusing! Men have lost the fire in their belly! How do we recover it? How do we define true masculinity? What is the biblical understanding of what it means to be a real man?
