The first Vineyards were planted in the USA in 1975. Today, there are 3000+ Vineyards around the world in 95 countries – and growing. In 1982, the first Vineyard church was planted in Johannesburg, and since then the movement in South Africa has grown to about 50 churches with church plants in progress. Read our part of the story behind one of today’s most passionate church planting movements.
As part of the Vineyard, a church planting movement, we were planted in a school hall in Kenwyn on the 1st June 2008. Since then we have relocated to Wynberg and then purchased what is our home in Plumstead today.
Along the way we had to choose the direction we would take in Kingdom Ministry. These choices have helped shaped our corporate identity as a Church.
In short strokes, we chose relationship before programme, values over structure and Holy Spirit with the Word. Our ultimate choice in demographic is to be inclusive and not homogeneous, under-girded by the caption:
" Not divided in our diversity, yet not uniform in our unity! "
We celebrate the identity of the individual while embracing the strength of community.
